Stafidenios is a packaging for seedless raisins especially designed for kids. This project started with no restrictions. Designer Andreas Kioroglou did extended research and developed a unique idea of extending packaging life cycle. The idea was to use the package as a toy instead of disposal. The packaging was designed so that children can transform the boxes into paper toys easily without the use of scissors, blades, glue, or other adhesives.
Although they were working on a very tight budget, the triple bottom line was improved by finding a way to increase the packaging life cycle. The paper toy construction was designed in a way that kids could create them with out the use of any adhesives. Matadog had to take into consideration that the toy should be produced in a way that could make the paper toys long lasting so a water-based coating was added to the paper after printing.
The project was a big success. According to sales and research done by the client, kids loved it. It extends the packaging life cycle, it’s educational, funny, and above all sustainable.
